Looking for information on immediate and related famlies of Dora Talula HENDERSON b. 21 Mar 1878 in Palestine, Anderson Co., Tx. Dora was the grand-daughter of Daniel HENDERSON (b. 1822 in SC) and Martha M. THORTIN(?) (b. 1831 in AL). Dora was the daughter of James Henry HENDERSON (b. 7 Jul 1850 in Attalla Co. MS) and Lorenda Ann BROWN (b. 24 Aug 1852 in Anderson Co., Tx). Dora married John Frank WATKINS (b. 25 Jul 1872 in Marshall, Harrison Co, Tx). Dora had at least 8 children that I know of: Robert Edward, William Jackson Madison Powell (1 person), an un- name infant, Henry Marris, John Frank, Malcom Leon, Mildred Evlyn (my grandmother), and E.B. I know that the family was in Rusk county for a time, then moved to Kaufman county, where several of the children were born. Dora died in or around 1952. I have a fair amount of info in the children, but this is about all the information I have on my great- grandmother.

I am working on the surname of HARTLESS in the Nacogdoches and Rusk Co. Texas area. My great-great-grandfather was E.W. HARTLESS b.Tenn. m. Francis THOMAS in Nacogdoches Co. They had 13 children and still have several relatives in the surrounding area. My great-grandfather was Reuben General HARTLESS m. Nannie RIDGE, dau. of Major John RIDGE. My grand-father was Ramous Hartless m. Viola FLOWERS, daughter of Oscar and Pearl (VEST) FLOWERS. My father's name is Reuben Jay Hartless b. 10-11- 1929 in Crockett, Tx. m. 9-9-1950 in Groveton, Trinity Co., Tx. to Nona Faye BAKER b. 5-29-1930. Company A, 12th Texas Infantry Regiment, CSA was formed from recruits from the Hallettsville area. They were enroute from Grimes Co. to rendezvoue at Tyler, TX with other companies, then march to Little Rock, AR. They were hit enroute with a measles epidemic and forced to halt. Many died or were sent home. Among those who died were my g grandfather J. W. AUTRY, 28 July 1862 and his brother Elijah AUTRY, 20 July 1862. I am looking for information as to where they were when this epidemic occured? Where they are buried? Information on the route of march of this Regiment?

Am researching my BARNHART ancestors and wish to contact others doing same. Eldest half-brother of my grandfather, William Rufus BARNHART, Schuylkill co, PA (1870-1940) was Henry ?akaFrancis BARNHART(bc1850) who resided Palestine 1881 (will data). Census records,1900,list him at 602 Green St. Wife was Luch BIXLER, children may have been Joseph, George, Emanuel, Lucy, ?female. My grandfather was youngest son of Michael BARNHART (c1830-1881) and Elizabeth SHOAFSTALL; grandson of Jacob BARNHART (c1781-aft1850) and Sarah BLEW. Further BARNHART lineage unknown.

Looking for any info about my GG-Grandfather James J. DODDS and GG- Grandmother Galitha (JORDAN) DODDS. They moved from Jefferson Co. Ill. in 1838, settled near Ft.Houston, Houston Co. later Anderson Co. abt 1840. They are on the 1850 Anderson Co. census with my G-Grandfather Samuel Johnson DODDS. Searching for information on the HASSELL family in Anderson County, TX. Jack Victor HASSELL; James Montgomery HASSELL; John Hassell and others. John HASSELL received a land grant in Bastrop and DeWitt counties after the Texas Battle for independence at San Jacinto, and supposedly fought with Sam Houston there; but eventually setteled in Anderson County and was the first physician in Elkhart,TX.
