This newly-published 128-page book contains hundreds of old photographs taken in Anderson County, Texas. Many of these show a wide range of county locations, topics, and people and have never been published anywhere before.
A project of the Anderson County Historical Commission (ACHC), this pictorial collection includes old schools no longer in existence, early businesses with owners and employees, churches, families, reunions, street views, buildings, and much more.
Chapter headings are Early Anderson County, Government and Military, Business and Industry, Transportation, Churches, Schools, and Life in Anderson County. The photographs have a description, information, and some history. Images from almost all county communities show life in the rural areas in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.
Many pictures were submitted by local residents, with others from the collections of the Palestine Public Library, the Anderson County Historical Commission, and the Museum for East Texas Culture---all repositories for our local history, both photographic and research.
