  • Douglas' Texas Battery, CSA - A reenactment unit depicting the premier artillery battery of the Army of Tennessee during the War for Southern Independence (1861-1865).  Douglas' Battery was recruited in 1861 consisting of men from Dallas and Tyler, Texas, and was the ONLY Texas artillery unit to fight east of the Mississippi River.  It was engaged in every major battle of the Army of Tennessee, and received three Confederate Congressional commendations.  Like its namesake, our current members are from all walks of life and range from teenagers to grandparents.  The 20th Century Douglas' Battery is one of only a handful of mounted artillery units in the United States, and has gained an international reputation as one of the best.

These files are submitted by volunteers just like you! I make it a habit that anytime I work with records, whether for myself or to share with others, I submit them to the USGenWeb/TXGenWeb project. It doesn't take much extra effort and it really can help many people. I'm very grateful to the many volunteers for all the great info provided.

If you agree, please email, Scott Fitzgerald with your submission.
