The county seat is located in Tyler, Texas. Smith County was created 11 April 1846 from Nacogdoches County. It was organized 10 July 1846. There are many records available: Deeds since 1846, Marriages since 1846, Probates since 1846, and District Court minutes since 1846. |
The Smith County TXGenWeb Project is divided into five sections. We hope this will help
you to navigate the web pages and find what you are looking for.
The Site Index is also a help in finding where information is located.

These files are submitted by volunteers just like you! I make it a
habit that anytime I work with records, whether for myself or to
share with others, I submit them to the USGenWeb/TXGenWeb project.
It doesn't take much extra effort and it really can help many
people. I'm very grateful to the many volunteers for all the great
info provided.
